Grok 3 Launches With Voice Assistant Mode In Beta

Grok 3, the latest version of the AI integrated into X/Twitter, was officially launched on June 20; According to Elon Musk, this new iteration surpasses other artificial intelligence models in capability and is available for free for a limited time.

One of the major highlights of Grok 3 is the introduction of a voice assistant mode, which Musk confirmed in an official announcement. This new feature, now part of the Grok AI app, positions the AI as a competitor to voice assistants such as Siri, ChatGPT, and Gemini. The announcement described it as an “early beta,” meaning that users may encounter occasional issues. However, Musk assured that any problems will be resolved promptly, calling the feature “amazing.”

Another notable addition to Grok 3 is the availability of different voices and personalities. According to a post by the user Tech Dev Notes, which Musk reshared, the AI offers two distinct voice options—Ara (female) and Rex (male). Additionally, users can choose from several personalities, including a best friend, an annoyed persona, a genius, a romantic character, or even a “stoned” personality. This customization suggests that Grok 3 is designed to provide a more engaging and adaptable user experience.

At present, the new version of Grok is only accessible via the Grok AI app, which is available for download on the Apple App Store for iOS devices—Android users will have to wait a bit longer, as the app remains in the pre-registration phase on the Google Play Store. With these new features, Grok 3 aims to establish itself as a strong contender in the evolving AI assistant landscape.
